The
underground world of the hard rock miner is rarely seen by “outsiders.”
Outside, the awesome scenery is worth the visit. Located in Cunningham Gulch just minutes from historic Silverton and easily accessible by car or RV, wildlife and natural wonders abound. Beaver and brook trout can be seen in the ponds below the mine, and elk, deer, and bear are sometimes seen. Spectacular waterfalls cascade down the cliffs from the alpine basins above you. In midsummer wildflowers dot the slopes and in fall the hills turn “gold” with the brilliant aspen trees. The Old Hundred ™ is a great family value, too. Gold panning is FREE with the purchase of a tour ticket. Our miner’s sluice box is “salted” with the real thing so we’re sure you’ll find some “colors.” No wonder the Old Hundred ™ Gold Mine Tour has been recommended by the New York Times, the Denver Post, Family Fun magazine, Rock & Gem magazine, “Colorado Getaways” television show, and automobile club guides in the U.S. and Europe. |
